Have you ever observed sarcasm over AIM or some type of messenger program? No because you can't tell when someone's being a smartass or not.

Sarcasm (in audible form) has to do with the drone and pitch of the voice. You can't hear that over the net. I suggest someone makes a symbol that you can tag on the end of your text that will identify it as so...
